I love Apple and I can understand why they still sell the classic iMac for $799, but I really think they should either
(a) Lower the Price of the current model, or
(b) Upgrade the $799 configuration.
A lot of people want cheap computers these days- all they want to do is surf the net and email. A $799 iMac with 600 mhz G3 and 128mbs of RAM doesn't sound like a great deal for the average consumer.

Yeah, it burns me too that they took out the CDRW, or doesn't burn me, whatever. I would like to it at at least $599 with an upped G3 and CDRW and better GPU. Unfortunately I don't think apple is gonna do a thing with it.

I've proposed this before:

- 600MHz Sahara G3
- 512K L2 Cache
- 256MB RAM
- 20/30/40GB Hard Drive (something in that range)
- CD-RW Drive (just a slow one)
- Airport Extreme Support
- GeForce2 MX 32MB
- $499 or $599

Unless a configuration like this comes along, I see no reason in a purchase of the classic iMac.

But then, people have mentioned the confusion of the Classic iMac and FP iMac. So, just combine the Classic iMac and eMac lines. Offer 15" eMacs and 17" eMacs--I don't think anyone would really care.
