I have a G4/733 and nearly every time I turn on the machine after being shut down the SuperDrive ejects its tray, regardles of any disc presence. This happens a couple of seconds after pressing the power button.

It's not really that big of a problem, but I know that it just puts wear on the mechanism for no reason. Does anyone know how to fix this or does someone else have this problem? It's nothing new to my machine. Thanks!

if you can confirm this, I found the problem ...

you have a third party mouse ...
or
you have the Apple mouse, but plugged directly into the Mac ... not using the keyboard's USB port
or
a third party mouse plugged directly into the Mac

You appear to be correct, unplugging my Kensington Expert Mouse Pro removes this problem. It doesn't appear that there is any way for Kensington to remedy this situation and I doubt that Apple will. However, after searching, Keyspan's iMate caused this to happen and then they made an update that elimited the problem.

Thanks for the help!

Thanks for asking.

I have 4 hard drives in my G4 currently:
Pair of 7200 RPM IDE Maxtors - currently not in an array
Pair of 9.1GB Ultra160 SCSI Seagate Barracudas (4MB Cache Versions) in RAID 0 Configuration on Initio Miles2 Ultra2 card running OS X's RAID 0 software.

See the following post for more info. I am really needing information on what to do with my drives and any help would be greatly appreciated: http://forums.macnn.com/showthread.p...postid=1198397

Had the same problem with a Kensington optical mouse. I switched to a Logitech optical wheel mouse, which has been trouble-free.
