I am upgrading my BW G3. The last thing I did was upgrading the memory. It seems that the memory was faulty because it freezes when I launch more than two programs. The other day I had the faulty module in and it worked ok. But the next day when I tried to start it up, it didnt boot. There was no boot sound and no image. The hard disc seems to work (it sounds like it is starting up) and the lights on the motherboard are on???
I pulled out the wrong memory module, my scsi card, even the graphic card. One strange thing is that if I pull all the memory out, the sound of no memory in sounds when I try to start up?
Any suggestion?

Measure the battery voltage. It should be around 3.6V. If it's not, then replace the battery. Most Macs since the early 90s can't boot if the battery is empty, and the symptoms you describe are exactly the ones I'd expect from a dead battery.
Blue G3s are of the age where their batteries are going to start failing (they last about 3 years, depending on how much the computer is kept powered on... the more it's on, the longer the battery lasts).
It's a standard 3.6V 2/3AA computer battery. Any electronic components store (even Radio $hack) should have them. And yes, they can cost $10+.
Just be sure to observe the polarity when replacing the battery.

THX! Could be the problem. I tried to exchange the battery with one I have on a Beige G3, but the problem persists... I have to say to this that the beige G3 has also the original battery! IŽll buy a new one and try.
If this is the problem IŽll be happy!

Sounds like an unlikely coincidence that it is the battery. Can you boot up from a CD?

Have you tried pressing the reset button on the motherboard? Since you pulled the battery out already, I think that would've done the same thing, but you could try it anyway. There is a small button on the motherboard, usually sitting atop a small little box. You could try pressing it and see if that helps things. I had a PowerMax computer that wouldn't boot, or do anything for that matter, when the power button was pressed, and the machine fired right up after I pressed that button.

The strange thing is that IŽm quite shure that is starts up, bucause if it has start up, and i insert a CD, and after this try to eject it with the bottom on the drive it didnŽt pull it out. It seems that the CD is mount. The harddrive starts up normally??? Really starnge! Also there is no boot sond.
Ah, another thing I tried to start up without the battery and the sintoms are the same!!! No sound, no image and the harddrive starting up normally???
Probably a real bug inside??
