Some people seem less than overwhelmed with the ATI 7000 PCI - or at least that's the impression I get.
On eBay I see the ATI Rage Orion 16MB, the ATI Rage 128, how do these compare? Is the 7000 a much better bet (for general OS X usage on a Beige G3, and the odd game...?)

Don't get a Rage 128 or Orion, they're worse than a Radeon 7000 as they are the predecessor of the Radeon. Either get a Radeon or a Radeon 7000. I'm definitely sure a Radeon is much better than the RAge 128 and Orion as I replaced a Rage 128 in a B&W with a Radeon.

The orginal Radeon Mac:Edition 32MB DDR is the best PCI video card. That's what I have in my Beige G3.

These seem *very* hard to find... and the prices of ATI PCI cards on eBay in general is quite high.
How much inferior is the 7000?

I had a Nexus (32mb Rage) in our Beige AIO and swapped it out for a Radeon 7000. Big improvement, my son says the iTunes videos are much better, some games are better, and Quartz Extreme can be run on the second monitor. I have a Radeon 7000 in my Beige DT and I can report the same. The Rage is a dead end whether it is 16 or 32 mb. The Radeon is probably the last PCI card and is far better than the Rage. The difference between a QE monitor and a Rage monitor is very noticible.

Well the 7000 is messing the Charisma Engine. Which pretty much means that it is missing Hardware TCL (texture, clipping, lighting) the higher end 3d games use this. Also it has less rendering pipelines (?) The original Radeon Mac Edition is a better 3D card than the 7000. And yes they are hard to find i got mine of some dude on Macaddict forums. Cost a lot too. Too bad the Voodoo 5500 64mb PCI doesnt have OSX drivers our i would get that one instead.
