(disclaimer: I'm a plug and play, point and click kinda puter user...not very sophisticated)

I've got a new to me iMac with OS10.2.3 iMac model 83.0 with 60gig hd and 320mb ram.

The machine was know to have some vid card issues before (halo screen, pretty unreadable) that were intermitant and would clear up on restart. When we moved it to my home the display came up very dark and not able to be rectified in calibration, changed outlets (surge protected) and it came up too bright but still not rectifiable.

I've rebuilt the pram and that totally whacked out the screen to black but I hit the lit power button and it went to sleep (?) and when I started it up again I got back to the too dark screen.

Anything I can do before exploring a new vid card?

Oh yes and in searching the archives I noticed that it seemed to be of great interest to some...it's strawberry...not pink.

Thanks in advance
PD
