it would depend on the specs.
It would have to have a 750Fx G3
and a QE capable Video card.

anything less just wouldn't be worth it.

I spent a ton of time getting 21 new macs for a non-profit organization. The budget was NO MORE than $500/machine. That meant I ws pulling together used systems of various revisions and quality. For many small organizations a cheap crt imac (read 4-500) would be a perfect fit.

A QE enabled graphics card would be a nice plus, a GForce 2 MX or something similar would be powerful enough, I still like my iMac and it's powerfull enough for small companies, you can surf the web pretty fast, microsoft office is acceptable and you can read and send mail, what more could you want ? It was never designed to run Quark or Photoshop, but even these apps run pretty damn good for such a little cute mac the only problem is the small screen....

Yeah, better grapics card and that would do it. It is true, for a basic office machine, which only needs to run Office, email and web with a few odd-ball app is all that's needed. I appreciate that Apple want's in innovate throught economic hard-times, but lets face it, it's an enconomic hard time for businesses, they don't have the cash to spent on a combo drive iMac G4 epecially if they don't need it. Dropping the price on the eMac would be a good idea too, iMac (w/improved graphics card)$500, eMac $800.

Yes you are since a brand new $1,800 iMac G4 does not even have USB 2.0 or FireWire 800.

if it came in blue, or almost any color other than white.

but I'd still buy one in white if no choice..but..this all white thing is getting OLD OLD OLD. (even the new LCD moniters have huge white plastic borders now which distract from the screen).

I'd love it in Bondi Blue.

Maybe Apple should do this...take the old iMac...update it a little...slap a $499 price tag and stick them at Sams Clubs, Wal Mart, etc. I think they would sell so many they could not make enough. Then the new users would see how good Macs are and then move on to a better more powerful Mac. We need something.
