I just received an email from Apple that my order for a new 1.25 has been pushed forward over 2 weeks!! I ordered 3 hours after the announcement of these machines on 1/28/03 and had an original ship date of "on or before 2/04/03" - today.

I could go buy a 1.25 in the Apple Store - they have plenty in stock - but they cannot do any upgrades and I need a Superdrive/120GB and internal BT. The gal on the phone at Apple said it was an "inventory" issue.

Wow this really SUCKS as I needed that machine very badly...

Anybody else out there get this news?

My 1.25 (w/ Combo but Airport) is due on or before 2/5 (tomorrow) and I was afraid this was going to happen... I called this afternoon and was told that their ship time ests are accurate and they have been on time. We'll see. I'll let you know

I *think* you mean pushed "back", right? Pushed "forward" would mean shipping early, pushed "back" means delayed.

Hmm... the 120GB HD/4X SD shouldn't be a problem. The internal BT, I think Apple don't have that enough for stock. I'm also planning on a BTO dual 1.25 w/SD and internal BT. That's sad news.

Um - ok pushed "back" - whatever...

I asked specifically if it was the BT install holding things up but the answer was no. As I'm getting this machine with the educational discount - I wonder if this is the REAL reason for the delay of my machine? Poor academics go to the rear of the line...

I suppose on the other hand this may be good news for Apple -lots of orders to fill?

Well I doubt it's a bluetooth issue. I bought a default 1.25 on the 29th. No extras. And it's shipping date has been pushed back to Feb 11. They didn't even send me an email.

Not true at all. I ordered my dual (867) power mac with the educational discount and i received my machine within a weeks time. They even shipped mine out the same day i placed the order. So that can't be the reason for your delay.

It's probably just apple having a hard time meeting demand.

I placed my order for a single 1 GHz with Superdrive and 17" Studio Display on January, 31st. Today I called Apple and they said it's still in production, but I'm gonna get a shipping confirmation "very soon". So far, no delays - at least for the single G4 and in Europe.

Almost 3pm on the "on or before" the 5th and still no word either way for me... Still crossing my fingers. When did they let you know of the delay; before or after the est ship date?

I didn't even get an email yet. My order is already delayed till the 11th. I called and asked why. The guy said there weren't any reasons given why shipment was delayed. He assumed since so many had been ordered, there was some kind of shortage. Out of the default config, what could possibly be in a shortage?

Damn it. Same here. Moved from "on or before" the 5th to "on or before" the 14th per the status page. Not even a heads up eMail.

Ok, let's look at the bright side, I thought... Since its obviously not even close to the assembly line, let's throw in Blue Tooth since I've read we can't afterwards (internally anyway). "Umm, sorry Sir, its been assigned an assembly number already and we can't change anything at this point." Ok, fine, how about changing the shipping to two day then, I asked. "Sure. Wait... Umm, says here you have already received the other portion of your order?" Yes (the monitor), why, I asked. "Because they have to be shipped the same method. It's already in the system." "Sorry Sir, is there something else I can do for you?"

No. No, thanks, that's all. Can I pull up my pants now?

When I was talking to the Apple dude, I thought about asking for some money off for being pushed back. Probably wouldn't take though.

History repeats itself again. Either Apple can't keep up the demand (I hope) or its production line is in deep do do. Too bad, the only way to get BTO is AppleStore, (SmallDog, PowerMax). I remembered that I ordered my Titanium/400 via ADC and I had to wait a month to get it.

That's helpful.

Anywho, I finally did get the courtesy eMail as well this morning, but it was too late. I had already called the Tyson Apple Store that's about an hour and a half from here and reserved the last of two 125's they had available. And, I get to set it up tonight!

Although I'm disappointed that they couldn't gauge demand better I'm happy Apple is selling so many. Let's hope they're not duds...

Well... perhaps I need to swallow some cheese with my earlier whine about having my new FW 800 1.25 delivery pushed "back":-)

I just saw that there is apparently a problem with some of the logic boards on a few of the already shipped new units - maybe this is the production holdup?

Better to wait for a good machine than have to deal with a recall.... ummm...thanks Apple (I think).
