hey all,
On the iMac you get the option of 1024 wide and 1440 wide on the screen resolution. 1024 is too big, 1440 is too small. Any way to make it in between?
thanks...

LCDs have one native resolution, which is what you get when you turn it on for the first time from Apple. When you use any other resolution, everything becomes blurry (but its OK for gaming).
The 1440x900 widescreen resolution is only for the 17" display, which is just fine for it. The 1024x768 standard 4:3 resolution is on the 15", and thats how all 15" LCDs are.
Don't worry, the resolution on both the 15" and 17" are just fine.

You could try using SwitchRes X. It lets you use resolutions other than those that Apple lists in OS X.

Cool! Never heard of this software before.
At work I run my Ibook with a 19" CRT which works really great except for the low (768X1024) resolution....
Will this software help me using a higher res with the 19" or will the Ibooks own screen still limit me to 768X1024?
It would be great if it worked since I don't feel inclined to risk the monitor spanning hack!
Much obliged....

I'm not sure what would happen exactly. SwitchRes X lets me run my external monitor at 1280x1024 and shuts off my iMac's screen. I'm not sure if it's good for the iMac or not, I started a thread about it in the iMac forum, unfortunately no one has responded. You could try it and see what happens, but there might be a possibility of damaging your iBook's display.

Damn.... Then it's just the same thing as with spanning hack!
If someone has tried this or knows for certain, please let me know.
Don't feel like damaging my lovely ibook!
