I need some advice on an upgrade. I purchased a Quicksilver 800 with the 17" Apple Display in October. I made the following upgrades: upped the RAM to 1.25GB, replaced the CD-RW with a Pioneer AO5 SuperDrive, and replaced the stock 40GB IBM HD with a Western Digital Special Edition 120GB HD. Now that Apple has announced the new PowerMac and 20" LCD would it be wise to upgrade. I will mainly be using my computer for photo editing, database, and music. What are the advantages of the newer PowerMacs over the Quicksilver, and the new 20" LCD over the 17". I know that there will always be something better available but at what point do you decide to stop. I figure that since my system is still under warranty I would be able to sell it for more than if I waited. What do you think. Thanks

i had a one gig QS dual 2002 with 1 gig ram. I opted for the 1.25 dual FW 800. The reason was the price is fine esp on educational and I always felt that the speed was almost but not quite like my old G4/500 running OS9.2.2

I wanted that feeling back and the 1.25 FW 800 gives me that back. The 167 mhz and ATA 100 makes the difference. And that's with only 256 meg of DDR Ram. I'm more than satisfied. If you have never run the duals just be prepared for a louder computer than the single processor. I always thought my QS 2002 was loud but not annoying. The 2003 dual is slightly louder than my QS but not annoying...ie no high shrill pitch like I noticed with the 2002 MDD.
