I've been using my stereo speakers with my iMac for better quality. Would the Apple Pro speakers be still better than the built in speakers? Also is there a way to get the speakers to work with the G3? Or does the older speaker set work?

The Apple Pro speakers only work with a Mac with the mini-jack, which means a G4 PowerMac. I've seen customers buy these for other models, and they're always returned. Any standard off-the shelf PC speakers will work; the Pros wont.
Why is there always money for war, but none for education?

Power Mac OR a new iMac.
But yeah it's kinda lame apple shoulda made em USB or something.

Best suggestion would be to get a set of sound sticks or something... currently though I've got a cheap amp hooked up to my iMac and then hooked into four speakers that're much bigger than your average PC speaker set... it's pretty sweet acctually... I really don't know why people don't just set up their own sound systems...

You might want to get an iSub. It really does add a lot to the iMac DV's sound. Since it takes all the lows away from the internal speakers, you can push them a little harder.

yeah i suppose i might, is the isub and soundstricks like WAY better than the JBL Creature? It's for looks that i want it. But if the isub is better than might as well go for it.

Obviously subjective, but I think the Creatures are hideous, so less elegant than the iSub or SoundSticks (sex toy resemblence notwithstanding).

I think, actually, that the satellite speakers in the Creatures are the same as Apple's Pro Speakers (perhaps a little smaller), and the subwoofer is the same as the iSub (and sub component of the 'sticks).

To me, the iSub is a quality inexpensive way to get close to what you need, and if you buy a new iMac (or PowerMac), you can use it with the Pro Speakers.
