Nice... ATA/133, slot-load optical drive. So the current PowerMac G4 is using "old" xServe technology.

Oh yeah, slot loading versus tray loading is really an indication of how modern the hardware is...

Mmmmmm, 2.5 Terabytes of storage in a 3U chassis for $11K. Nice! Check out the other details though, up to 512MB of cache per RAID controller with a battery backup option is quite good. Dual fiber channel interface back to your file server is awesome! Also, many components like the power supplies and fans are all redundant and hot-swappable. This looks like a great product from Apple at a very competitive price point. For comparison, a Dell Powervault 220 with 14 146GB drives (2.04TB), no fiber channel interface and no internal RAID controllers will run you $18,327. Nice job Apple!

I'm not going to call an ambulance this time because then you won't learn anything.

You would not want one of these sitting under desk at all, unless of course you needed one. They are bigger than they look and if you think the Towers are noisy buy an Xserve and enjoy. Now as for the new ones, not bad at all and reasonably priced.
