I have an iMac 800 flat-panel with 512MB RAM in the factory-installed slot. I've been thinking about upgrading the user-accessible memory slot with an additional 512MB of memory. I run OS X 10.1.5 (soon to be Jaguar).

In what kinds of operations will I see an improvement if I add the additional RAM?

I use my mac mostly for web browsing (Chimera), Java coding, and Dreamweaver MX. I'm also considering Virtual PC with Win2k.

Thanks folks. This is a great place to hang out with Mac users!

If you're thinking of VPC, put another 512Mb in it for sure. I've done that, and it's noticeably faster.
Why is there always money for war, but none for education?
