Folks, be warned. No NOT make buying decisions based on a mail in rebate to Apple. I bought the 1GhzTiBook SD with a 17" external while there was a $400 mail in rebate. I followed all the rules, cut out the bar codes from the boxes, (even photographed them to have a digital file with there date of creation as proof), sent it all in. Last week I called to check the status and was told they never received it. Now we all know the disclaimer that they are not responsible for lost mail, (And BTW how do I know it was lost in the mail, rather than mishandled by them? I just know I bought the stuff and sent everything in). In a situation like this where I have all the documents and picture evidence you'd think they'd consider making it right....wrong. I spent HOURS on hold, talking to the first then second level, (waiting the 3rd) and got stonewalled. Now I've been buying Apple stuff for 20 years, they have me on file for at least 4 computers etc,,,got me nothin'. I bought it in person from the NY store and they may ne able to help a bit, but that's their decision, not Apples'.
Bottom line. After 20 years, this will be my last Apple. Also, if you have been hurt by a rebate scam from apple, perhaps we could collect names and pursue this further....Peter
