My PowerMac Quicksilver dual 800 has developed a date/time problem. It reverts to 1969 when booting up. It did this for awhiole when it was new, but the problem stopped after I returned from a week-long trip a year ago. Yesterday, it started again. The only things I have done recently was to install an airport card 2 weeks ago, and download the System 10.2.4 update. I have not replaced the battery yet, although I intend to do so as soon as I can come up with one. Any other suggestions?

That time problem is a known OS X 10.2.4 but, I've read about it somewhere. Some DP Macs are affected, there's no workaround yet.

Sounds like the battery to me. RadioShack carries the correct battery for Macs.

I just got off the phone with Apple. We reset the PRAM and, so far, the problem is solved. The next few days will tell for certain. Restart holding down the Apple, option, P & R keys until the computer chimes 4 times. Give it a try. It can't hurt.

It is a 10.2.4 Bug - DEFINITE.

10.2.3 - no problem

10.2.4 - problem

back to 10.2.3 - no problem.

and it is a pain in the ass.

Apple - please fix this.

You are correct. It is definitely an Apple 10.2.4 bug. The PRAM reset worked only for that immediate startup. By evening, it was groundhog day all o0ver again (1969). The noon call to Apple Tech resulted in the suggestion to reset the PRAM. An evening call resulted in the Tech checking something & replying that there was, indeed, an apparent bug in 10.2.4 and to watch the Apple support page for a fix. When? ASAP as it appears to be a serious problem.

I'm sorry I doubted you. How did you read about it so quickly? Apple wasn't even aware of it at that point. Would somebody please let Apple know what's going on?

Found the very same thing in some German forums and there was a link to a newspage where somebody reported calling Apple and they told him that this was a known bug. I know what I say and if I'm not sure, I always mention that I'm not sure
