Hello,
I'm shopping for a second hand Mac and I've found the above models for roughly the same price. The 466 is a newer model with a faster bus, while the 450 had the added CPU. I'll be running Photoshop, GoLive and other creative software. Eventually I plan to upgrade the CPU.
Any opinions on which one I should go for would be gratefully received!

Get the 466. You can get a dual upgrade later. The 466 has a better graphics card, a better system bus, better AGP slot, better audio, and uses the MPC7410 instead of the somewhat flawed 7400. When you go dual, the 133MHz system bus will support higher clocked processors, and make them not be quite as ram starved.

Go dual. DP in OSX is significantly better than SP.

If you plan to upgrade the processor at a later time, get the 466 now. Like you said it has the faster system bus and RAM. Also AGP 4x instead of 2x.
And speaking of video cards get one thats Quartz Extreme supported for now. Like the ATI Radeon 7500, 8500, 9000, 9700, nVidia GeForce2 MX 32 MB DDR, 3 Ti, 4 MX, or 4 Ti.
The cheapest one will probably be $110.

I agree, given your intention to upgrade the CPU either way, take the G4/466

Go dual. If you intend a CPU upgrade anyway, get the 466, but get a dual upgrade. Really worth it when using X!

So what I'm hearing is that the G4/450 DP is a faster computer... but the G4/466 has more upgrade potential and some better features. (AGP, Audio etc). Thanks all!

The GeForce2mx in the 466 is also much much faster than the Rage 128 in the dual 450. If you can find a dual 533, they kick serious ass.

The 466 has a Rage 128.

It's possible that the DP450 has a Radeon...
Anyway, as much I'd love to reccommend the DP450 (I've loved mine), the 466 is much more upgradable (133FSB/4XAGP). If you're SURE you're going to upgrade the CPU and GPU fairly soon, get the 466.
However, if you really want the best performance NOW, the DP450 will be like 60-70% faster for Photoshop and other SMP apps.

Be happy.
