I have an AGP Digital Audio G4 P.M. (O.S. 10.2.4). It takes about a minute and a half to dial up and connect to my ISP and it connects at about 42K. My wintel platform in the other room connects in about 20 seconds including dialup at 51K. This is also the case under O.S 9.2 and was true with my beige G3 with an external V90 modem. Is there something inherent in PPP on Macs that makes them slower both in modem dialup and bit rate? Can I do something about it (other than broadband cable or DSL)?
