Hey,

My old PC died (bad logic board & power supply) and I replaced it with a new Power Mac. Can't wait to receive it.

The tech who looked at the PC said he had no reason to believe that the old Seagate 6531 ATA hard disk in the PC was damaged. The data, he told me, should be intact. He pulled the drive out of the old machine and gave it to me.

Is there a way to retrieve the data on my Mac? Can I install it in one of the internal drive slots? It's PC formatted - will that cause problems? Do I need to buy an extermal 3.5" firewire drive case? Will it work that way?

Sorry if the question betrays my ignorance - I'm just learning.

Thanks in advance for any advice...

It really depends on the format of the drive. If it is fat formated (most likely Windows 95/98/ME) it should read fine internally or in a case.

As long as it's not NTFS or HPFS, you shouldn't have a problem reading it.
