I'd like to know if anyone has had success with a software hack to allow video spanning for the 15" FP iMac.
I've done a search and have only found success with some iBooks and 17" iMacs.
I would assume the 15" would then work as well.
Would be nice to hear from someone with first hand experience that actually has it working on a 15" iMac.
thanks

It *won't* work in a 15" iMac, since they all use the 2MX GPUs, which aren't capable of doing monitor spanning.

The only reason it works in the 17" is the 4MX GPU which is capable of doing it but is normally locked down through software.

Can someone post a link to the hack info? I intend to do this with a 17-inch iMac if possible.

The link that I used for the iBook hack is:

I assume that the process is similar, if not identical on the 17" iMac.

Very true about the 2mx it does NOT support spanning.

The 4mx does however

You could always have a professional solder on a 4mx but hrm

Sure, assuming that the GPUs are pin compatible (I doubt it) and that (if they were) you'd be able to find one in unit quanititys and that (if you could) you knew someone who'd be willing to put the board through their SMT soldering machine for a reasonable price.
