Hi,
I just purchased a new MDD PowerMac single 1 Ghz yesterday. The fan noise is ok, no complaining here.

I am wondering why Software Update is showing the Firmware update for the previous revision. Should I apply it? Will it decrease fan noise? Should I use it at all?

I wanted to collect feedback before updating my firmware...

I have a new dual 1.25. I updated the firmware with no problems. Don't notice any difference with the fan either.

well... I don't have any problem about noise on my 2003 dual 1.25.. should I still apply that firmware 4.4.8?
Here's the detail about the firmware;

The Power Mac G4 Firmware Update 4.4.8 will run only on Power Mac G4 computers with mirrored drive doors. The Power Mac G4 Firmware Update 4.4.8 improves fan control behavior and reduces high speed fan cycling when running in Mac OS 9.
To complete the installation, you must follow the instructions that are presented after you exit Software Update. The updater will remain in your Utilities folder after you are finished. To obtain a Mac OS 9 version of the updater, run Software Update while booted in Mac OS 9.

It looks like 10.2.4 doesn't require the PowerMac has the most up-todate firmware. I'm running MacOS X full-time.. any advice?
