I've always assumed that my beige G3 is a Rev. A because its quite old, but I did get a slave drive working in OS 10.2

I want to double check the rev version, but found nothing about ROM versions in the OSX system profiler. So I started up a classic app and then used OS9's system profiler and it says the ROM is $77D.45F6

I searched around the forums but found no mention of that ROM version. So which rev is it? Thanks

The Rev. A's do allow slave drives in OSX (not 9). I'm not sure why your ROM checks out as 45F6, presumably its being patched by OSX in RAM - which would explain the slave support if it were a Rev A.

Best thing to do is boot into OS9 - not classic - and check the production information in ASP:

40F2 = Rev. A
45F1 = Rev. B
45F2 = Rev. C

Failing that you could always check the motherboard itself, in particular the builtin ATI video chip. If it is a Rage II+ or IIc then it is Rev. A, or Rage Pro if it is B or C.
