How come the reset button is gone from MDD?

I have a pre fire wirewire 800 MDD that does boot up to OS 9 ( However i don't think it should - dual 1ghz) and there is NO RESET button.

I have heard people saying there is no need for one. Why?

Yeah, that is what I'd like to know too....several days ago I put a PC CD into my dual 1.25 MDD and it would not mount the CD and totally froze up the computer. I had to yank the power plug from the back just to restart. Also having no external CD eject button is kind of a pain. In my old B&W G3 there was a number of times I would have to use the CD eject button to get a disk out on startup that would refuse to mount. To top it all off. I miss my keyboard power buttton. the new power button on the front of the MDD towers takes a lot of pressure to activate, and what if you don't want your tower on the desk (within easy reach). Here is a question for you...If I hooked up an old USB keyboard, could I power up the machine from it?
The large print giveth, and the small print taketh away

There is a reset. If you get a freeze, KP whatever, just hold down the power button on your MDD and it'll shutdown safely. Then just restart it. You can also hold down command and control on your keyboard and hit the eject key on your Apple keyboard and that will reset it too. Holding down control and hitting the eject key will bring up the old sleep, restart, shutdown and cancel dialog.

Its a good idea to let your computer rest for 15-30 seconds after a forced shutdown anyway.

Simplicity. No external CD eject button... no reset button... no interrupt switch... no power button on the keyboard (sure, one extra button on a 120 key keyboard will confuse people)... etcetera. All absolutely idiotic decisions.

Having a hard restart button would take away any reason to do that - the components do not wind down because they've been un-powered.

I remember reading somewhere that the reason there is no power button on the USB kb's is because it would violate the USB standard about sending power down the bus. I agree it is stupid. My PM is not near my desk and have to go over to turn it on, while not a great hardship, is certainly annoying.
