Yeah... if your 8500 has memory that's stamped, "EtronTech" it won't flash for macintosh... just plain and simple.

I did, however luck out and bid on a true ATI 8500 on ebay (the guy thought it was an LE). So i won, dropped the card in, and flasshing went fine.

I just had a question (actually two) about software.

1) I can only set resolutions up to 1152x864 @60hz max. (yes, i'm choosing ALL from the show menu)... what's up with this?
2) does the s-video output work with flashed cards?

I'm getting the ghosted monitor, but i heard once you put the dvi-vga adapter on it this goes away... i haven't tried it yet.

Hrm, I checked my PowerMac 8500 and didn't find that stamped on my memory. Also, the system did not flash me.
