I'm noticing that there are substantial speed differences in extracting data off CD depending on how I connect the drives (external Firewire CDRom and hard drive). Does anyone know why this would be, what the best order to connect the drives would be, and what extension set to use to get the fastest transfer speed?

I can't answer your question directly, but I've noticed less problems with burning data from FW drives to a FW burner, ever since I started using a FW hub. Previously, I had the drives daisy-chained.

I have a ADS pyro drive and it has the orignal firmware for the oxford 911 bridge which was not high speed cd burning compatible ... this can be fixed with a firmware update ... so my moral is make sure everything you are using is up to date .. both hardware and software.
