hey there, my goal is to buy a G4 dual 1.42, but, for now the graphics card the power mac comes with is the ATI Radeon 9000 Pro, could i buy the ATI Radeon 9700 Pro LATER, then just plug it later??
My goal is to work with Video (final cut pro), is the 9000 pro overkill for my needs, or would the 9700 deliver even better results??? and the NVIDIA GeForce4 Ti?? any good??
Please help me!!!
Thanks for your time!!!

Yes you can buy the 9700 later and just plug it in
No you will not have any benefits. The 9700 shine in 3D stuff and games for 2D any modern card is plenty

A 9700 is only better if:
1) You play games
2) You do 3D modelling in an environment which used OpenGL for previewing scenes
It's not going to speed up FCP work.

Pretty much I think, there are install instructions in the book that comes with the G4. You just unlatch the old card, take it out, put the new one in, latch it in and start up.
If you're just going to do video in FCP, you may want to just stick with the stock 9000. You can save $50 too and just go with the GeForce 4 MX if you don't plan on doing a lot of gaming. I have a dual 867 with a GeForce 4 MX with 32 megs of VRAM and QE, monitor display etc are all fine. Video performance etc are all more related to processor speed, hard drive bus, system bus speed etc.
