Hey Gang

Looking for some input on this combo...anyone with this setup willing to volunteer some insight?

Yes, I could wait for the ATI card (9700), but I'm pretty sure I'd never push either card....I'm just getting tired of waiting for products to start shipping.

Thanks for any and all help,

D.

Hi!

Ahhh yes, use of the machine...well, pretty much generic use...iLife apps, Office, surfing, and a little gaming now and then. The browser display must be excellent as I'll be downloading and displaying 10MB medical image files.

Thanks for the input,

D.

if that is all you are doing my old GeForce4 MX was almost the same level of display as my "snappy" new GeForce4 Ti.

I don't see a great deall of difference really. and I only see it kick in on older games in OS 9 that give the option of OpenGL but don't use that the best because of the power it needs.

but iMovie... I don't know. I don't use it so I don't know if a Ti or 9700 would make the new windowed version display any snappier.

Minus the lack of iMovie benchmarks knowledge, I can see no reason to get a "better" card.

When I got my Ti my friend said, "Well you just got a bigger D*** and still no where to put it."

Unless you are doing quite a bit of gaming, don't get anything higher then the radeon 9000. I would get the 9000 because it'll power games fine.

Thanks gang!

I do appreciate the input and you've saved me $300 to buy some other toys with

I was pretty sure the upgrade card is total overkill, but I just had to know which way to go...

Now I can order away and not fear making a total mistake with the card.

Cheers,

D.

I have the Radeon 9000 in a 1.25DP and I get 140-150fps in Quake3 at 1024x768 with everything set to High Quality and all options enabled.
The 9000 is a pretty kick-butt card.
Just wanted to chime in.
First there was man, then there was Macintosh
