Ok fellow Apple geeks...
My dad has a G4 Dual 500 Macintosh with an ATI 128 Rage Pro card that for some reason will not support Apple's 20" Cinema display. This has been confirm by Apple that it will not support it, even tho it has an ADC port. He was told he needs to get a newer/faster/something card like a ATI 8500 or 9000.
Questions: Anyone know anything about why this would not work? Also, any know if an NVIDIA GEFORCE 4 MX440 64MB AGP 4X MAC (see link:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...category=25449 ) would work on his G4 Dual 500 Powermac and also support this monitor?
Thanks!

I believe this is true; I don't think the 16MB Rage card will support the resolution of the 20-inch display. I think it maxes out at 1600, which was the horizontal res of the old 22-inch Cinema Display. I've seen discussions of Cube owners with the Rage card who can't run the new display.
The GeForce 4 card should work, assuming he's running OS X 10.2. I'm not sure if the fact that the card is 4X AGP and that system is 2X is an issue; I hope it's not, since I just ordered a 20-inch for a DP450 at work that has a new Radeon 9000 in it.

anyone else know if this card will / should work with the 2x / 4x issue?
Also, does that mean his card would work with the 22", the 20", the 17", etc?
