We just got some new iLamps at work, and they absolutely refuse to boot off of OS X install CD's! They will boot off of a cds I make with BootCD, they'll boot off of the Apple Software Restore CDs, but they won't boot off of pure OS X install CDs.
Has anyone else had this problem or any suggestions on what we might want to try?
Thanks,
Matt Fahrenbacher

Bah-dah-bum! But seriously folks.
Do you mean they won't boot off retail OS X CDs? It's possible that the version of OS X on the CD is not supported on the iMacs. Generally speaking, you can't go backward. If 10.2.4 is the system the iMacs shipped with, an earlier version of OS X won't boot.

Didn't 10.2.3 come out before the new iMacs? Check the build number... I'm betting the new iMacs are running a more recent build of 10.2.3 than 10.2.3 GM... typically there are some modifications Apple makes to the operating system when it releases new machines without changing the version number.
Cheers!
Chris

Yep. Just got my new iMac 1Ghz which has 10.2.3 pre-installed. It refuses to boot off my Jaguar retail disk, and I tried it multiple times.
First attempt was double clicking on the 'Install OS X' icon in the finder, computer then restarts and back into 10.2.3
Second attempt was by selecting the Jaguar retail disk as the disk to boot off in System Preferences, no luck there.
Third attempt was by restarting and holding down 'C', again no luck.
I want to format in order to completely remove classic 'cos I don't need it. I'll then just update back up to 10.2.3. as 10.2.4 messes with my dial-up connection. Anyone got any suggestions as to how I get around this?
Thanks!!
