Any time my mail program fetches new mail it quits... any suggestions?

Can you check your mail successfully with other programs? It sounds like the server is doing something Mail doesn't like.

had the same experience. called the Apple Center and they advised me to check "wait for dial tone before dialing" under System Preferences >> Network >> Modem. I have a direct dial phone, but this trick seemed to work.
