Radeon 7000 cards from several manufacturers have been flashed to Mac successfully, have anyone tried flashing the Radeon 7500 cards to the Mac? Since Radeon 7500 together with the Radeon 7000 are the only cards that are available in PCI and have a Mac version. PowerColor made a Radeon 7500 PCI card with DDR memory that could be good try out.

What we need now is someone to get the Mac ROM from a Radeon 7500 card (I think the ROM from the Mac AGP card will be usable on a PCI card and I think the 7500 Mac ROM version that shipped with the card is 222 and is the latest version). Extracting the ROM file does not harm the card.

Could someone with the Mac Radeon 7500 please get the Mac ROM information from the card. The Radeon 7500 is a better card than the original Radeon and the Radeon 7000. If the flashing works, I think it is the best card for the PCI Macs at the moment.

If using the Flashrom program to get the Mac ROM, type in a command like "flashrom -s 0 mac7500.rom 128" where 0 is the location of the card and "mac7500.rom" could be another name.

It's odd how the retail ati radeon 7500 pci looks so different (small card, vga cable connector to the port just like the powercolor card) than the 7500 agp version (which looks like the original radeon mac edition).

This makes me wonder if there aren't other changes in the configuration of the pci version that would prevent a simple ROM tranfer from working...

Yeah, the ATI-built Radeon 7500 PCI looks exactly the same as the one built by Powercolor. Don't know whether putting the Radeon 7500 Mac AGP ROM into a PCI card will work until you try it I suppose.

I looked into the PC ROMs of the ATI-built, Powercolor-built, Dell-built Radeon 7500 cards, it shows that the core clock is around 250MHz, memory clock is around 332MHz and effective memory clock is also around 332MHz, the memory type being SDR, the memory clock on the slider on Radedit is 166MHz.

It is odd because the cards are sold as DDR cards, but the ROMs in the cards are like if you open a PC ROM of a Radeon 7000 DDR card up on Radedit and change the memory type to SDR.
