I was hoping to throw a couple of more hard drives in my Quicksilver, and was looking at IDE controllers. I would like to get ATA133, and maybe a controller with hardware RAID.

Sonnet and SIIG both make controllers for Mac. The ATA133 controller is about $100 from either manufacturer, and the ATA133 RAID controller is $150-200. Similar controllers for PCs are half the price!

1) Why the price difference between Mac and PC?

2) Can you but a PC card and "flash" the ROM like some people do for video cards?

3) Has anybody seen significantly better prices than those listed above?
