No, the AirPort Extreme cards are mini-PCI, whereas the regular Airport cards are PCCard-based.

Physically different sizes, different connectors.

Neither one will fit in the other port.

Same as the PowerMacs, The 15 and the 17" PowerBooks have a PC Card Slot and you can buy Mac Compatible 802.11G Cards for them for like 50 bucks, just check around, again I think Linksys works for these also.

I'm interested in installing a wireless netowrk in my new house, but all my machines are standard airport only... (Dual 867 PM, and 466 SE iBook). I don't have any cards for either yet..

Excuse my ignorance in the subject, and sorry if this is a dumb question, but I'm wondering if a Linksys 802.11g card would be compatible with the Apple Airport Extreme Base Station? or would I have to buy a Linksys item?

Also could I put any kind of 802.11g card in my Clamshell iBook, or is it just too old...

Finally, if Extreme isn't an option for the iBook, could I 'mix and match' Airport and AP Extreme machines on the same base station, or do I have to commit totally to one standard?

Cheers,

Marc
