I have my dual gig on a UPS from APC and I think a transformer blew about 20 minutes ago as I heard a 'pow' outside. The power then went out and came back on. I didn't worry because I have the UPS, but my computer was off which I thought was strange. So I went to boot it up and the power button willlight when I press it but it won't boot/turn on. The UPS looked fine and all the devices I have hooked to it are powered including a 23" HD display.

Little concerned about the fact that it may be dead and what it could be. Also that the UPS didn't do crap to protect my work machine.

Is there anything I can try to do or am I screwed and need to take it in? Also, should I be a little upset with APC and their no help UPS?

Same thing happened to me the other night, but my PM was running, with a lot of other equipment too!

I freaked out as well, partially because I have performed inner mods to this machine (fans) and I initially thought it was my fault.

Do this:

Open up the power mac.....on the logic board down near the bottom, there is a small button that says "PMU Reset". Shut down your machine and unhook everything. Then press this button. I think PMU stands for Power Management Unit or something like that.

Your machine should now work fine!

Yea mine was on too before the power outage but my UPS shouldv'e kept the machine on.

Well, as much as I really apprecite the info, I freaked and took it into a local mac shop about 2 hours ago. I hope the guy doesn't try and stiff me if that is the true solution.

Thanks for the info tho, I'll copy/paste it to my notes.
