I've just added a WD800JB hard drive to the ATA66 slots on my new Powermac ( it came with 2 120Gb drives in the ATA100 slots ) to try and optimize my photoshop use. The drive doesn't appear on the desktop however, despite having the jumpers set to Cable Select as per the G4 setup guide. It does show as a Hard Disk in the System Profiler.

What am I missing . . ?

Don't know if the drive shows up in Disk Utility... If so, try to 'Erase/Initialise' the drive...

Peace,

Marc

We just had the same problem with changing out the Hd on a B/W G3. The only thing that worked was the using Disk Set-up in OS 9. The OS X.2 disk utility would not see it. If you have a machine that won't boot OS 9 I don't know what to do.
Yes, I know I could buy a PC, but why?

Disk Utility and Erase did the trick.
Thanks for that!
