Every few mins (about 10 or so) my g4 beeps! It's this quiet, "PEEEP!"

It's not a mechanical beep, it's a beep beep like one a cellphone would make.

Anyone got ideas to what exactly it is? all drives seem functional.. maybe the power supply?

Do you have a Maxtor Drive? If so, this is a common problem on these drives. Take it to an apple repair centre and get them to replace it. Both Apple and Maxtor are aware of the problem and it shouldn't be a hassle.

My Dual 867 does the same thing, and im pretty sure it comes from the IBM hard drive. It makes a clicking noise then sometimes it beeps.

Mac Zealot, let Ellen Feiss out of there. LOL

If you have an IBM hard drive in there, it's making that noise. The rough pattern with the stock 60 gig in my dual 867 is about every 24 hours, give or take an hour or two. It's not a swiss watch but it does it every night around 9 or 10 or so. There was a thread about this at xlr8yourmac.com and everyone had the same beep and IBM hard drives.

What kind of G4 are you running?

and replaced I had the same problem last week, and was forced to replace my HD since it was double beeping every 30 seconds, I wrote an article about this on my web site and replaced my 60GB with a 120GB Maxtor.

Read all about it in my article.
