I bought my 17'' iMac a week ago, and I updated to 10.2.5. The iMac left me poor, which left me with 256mb of RAM. Heh.

Now, problem: iTunes will be playing a song, and my sound will cut out. The mp3 won't stop, or skip, but it will keep playing, I just won't hear anything. It will come back on in about 5 seconds.

Now, question: Is this a lack of RAM problem or an OSX problem?

Thanks!

Sounds strange .. but if it doesn't skip and continues playing as you described ... I'd guess an OS issue ??

I'd say an OS issue, I've had sound quit on me before, and a reboot fixed it. You running a lot of apps at the same time?

I have the same problem. It's an OSX/iTunes thing.

Do you use USB speakers? Could be that too. USB speakers blow.

I've had the same experience with iTunes on an iBook (Dual USB, 600MHz, 640 MB RAM, no external speakers attached). It never happened before upgrading to Mac OS X 10.2.5.
