This is insane. I am the FW800 user. I decided not to BTO my DP1.25Ghz due to the slowness (a couple weeks to wait). They listed the module at $50 in the AppleStore, but I checked their service and parts site.. it costs $178 as new. I think this included the labor, but heck... what's wrong with Apple.

I know there is a D-Link Bluetooth adapter for $50, but why take up an USB port if the machine is bluetooth ready, like AirportExtreme.

just buy a usb 2.0 card that has a 5th port that is internal and stick the usb bluetooth adapter in there. I don't know how reception will be but it seems like a cool idea.

I tried that. Reception was only like 3 feet. It was around 15 feet with the "type 1" adapter, but I didn't feel secure with that thing just hanging inside there (the antenna made it kind of heavy.)

There's another thread on this somewhere about reception, etc. Apple discourages BTO yourself, you can't really buy parts you aren't entitled to, though possible.
