I have hooked up my Quicksilver Powermac, to my stereo system with a Y-splitter and some good quality RCA cables.

My problem is, there is a constant hiss sound coming from the stereo. I have to turn the volume up on the Powermac and the volume down on the stereo to make the hiss go away (not all the way though).

I thought for the longest time it was my stereo or cable, but then I hooked my iPod up to the headphone jack and it is crystal clear.

Does anyone else have hissing problems? Any thoughts on what to do about it?

happens when my g4 is plugged directly into my stereo.

No idea what it is. I think the quicksilvers have a seriously fscked up sound chip

I did some more searching and I'm going to go get a ground loop isolator. It plugs in-line and is supposed to reduce humming.

$10 at Radio Shack.
