I was working on a PowerMac G3/300MHz (B&W) and was replacing the CD-ROM drive since it went bad. I put in a new CD-RW drive and it didn't work and then my own DVD drive and that did not work. I opened up System Profiler (MacOS 9) and noticed the CD drive and DVD drive were showing up at the same time - a bit odd since only one drive can be installed at a time. The DVD drive said it was on on ID0 and the CD-ROM was on ID1. I've never seen this before and I'm hoping somebody can help me out. Thanks in advance for any suggestions.
