Hi all,

Well I have a problem with my iMac g3 350 slot load. It was running Jag fien for about a week, then one day when I shut it down, nothing. It would turn on but the monitor would not fire up, no image whatsoever. The green light comes on, but nothing.

I have a feeling it is the PRAM, which I have now removed and is being replaced tomorrow, it read .4V and should be 3.6V. Is this the likely problem?

Also, I'm unsure as to what version of the firmware it was running, if it is the older one, what can I do? I know of no way to use an external monitor on this???

Much appreciated.

I think you meant you replaced the PRAM battery, right?
Have you tried turning on the machine since removing the battery? They will run fine without the battery, although if you shutdown and unplug all the settings stored in the PRAM will be lost.

The current firmware should be 4.1.9

It can be found on your Mac OS X cd or you can download it here.

Mind you have to have installed OS 9 or earlier, since it doesn't run from OS X and it doesn't run from starting up from a OS 9 cd

You can check which firmware you have by going to Apple System Profiler and look in System Profile -> Hardware Overview.

Easiest way to get ther is Apple Menu -> About This Mac -> More Info.
You can also open it in your Utilities folder.
