Bought a new harddsik for my iMac 400 DV/SE Slotloading.
Western Digital 7200 rpm-200 GB-8 MB Buffer.
However, the Jaguar install disk sees only 128 GB instead of 200 GB.

Is there a maximum of a harddisk this iMac can see?

Thanks.

edit: seems I cannot change the wrongly spelled subject line

128GB is simply the limit the hard drive controller can see.. when that mac was made that was simply the largest drive the IDE controllers could handle..

The answer is simple, you'll have to stick it in a firewire case and run it like that. no way around it..

in addition to what bartman says, use an oxford 911 chipset firewire enclosure, or other oxford chipset.

I recommend such because the oxford chipsets are well supported by mac os.
