hello, I am writing this for my sister-in-law. She has a 15inch 800MHz Flatpanel iMac with the superdrive. She is running OS 10.1.x (I think it is 10.1.3). She was trying to burn a CD in iTunes and this message came up:

"Could not find your preferred CD burner. OK to use Pioneer DVD-RW DVR-104 (internal ATA) instead?"

This is the first time she has seen this and it worked no problem before this. She has had the computer when the Flat panel was introduced (maybe a month or two later). Any ideas as to what is happening?

Thanks

OK, I found out that she is running 10.1.5 and still has the problem. Anyone have any suggestions?

Sounds like something got reset somewhere. So if she says "OK" to using the Pioneer (which she's always used) does everything still work? If so, then what's the problem?

Did she or somebody known or unknown hook up an external burner to say do some disk to disk copying? If it only happens in iTunes rather than when a blank CD-R is inserted with NO applications open so that DiscBurner kicks in with it's "What do you wnat me to do with this disk?" query.

Trash your iTunes preferences.
Check how things show up in System Profiler and see if disc burning is supported by the Superdrive (It should be)
Zap your Pram [command]+[option]+[P]+[R] at startup.

Has Toast been installed on this machine?

Well, she has it working again (sorry, I was away for a bit). She just clicked OK and it seems to work now. Just wondering what happened???

Thanks for all the advice

Did she have an external drive hooked up at one time? Maybe it was looking for that one and when it was removed it could not find it?
