Hi, I have a 500mhz iMac with cd-rw and am running 10.2.6.

When I insert a blank 700mb cdr, The drive will take in the cd, spin for a few seconds, and then spit it back out.

This is currently only happening with blank discs, and was showing itself on occasion before I upgraded to 10.2.6, so I don't think it is something new with the update.

I'm using Memorex 700mb/80 Minute 48x cdrs, which actually worked about a week ago just fine, so I don't think it's the media.

I reset the PRAM and the problem is still showing. I searched here and at the Apple support forums, but found no solutions, only a few others with the same problem.

I haven't re-installed the system yet, was hoping to avoid it or postpone it if possible. Are there any other checks or troubleshooting steps I can take before I should re-install the system, or is the drive just shot?
