Yes..always get the free ram. although free is relative. check with the other resellers about what free really means.

The install charges for the "free" ram sometimes are more than what the ram actually costs itself.

Also check on who offers really free shipping which is substantial.

MacConnection.com offers free shipping on orders over 150 bucks below 150 lbs. No rebates, no hassle, free ground.

The other resellers are only offering "free shipping" up to 40 bucks. and thats a rebate you have to fill out. Then they upcharge the shipping like 100 bucks to make even more money so thats a bad deal. You must check the shipping charges with several resellers, that will save you over 100 bucks possibly.

So...check out many resellers carefully before making the final purchase.

i think macmall charges $40 for the ram install, but i guess that's okay. anyways, i've had good luck with macmall, and i've ordered from them multiple times. they have many rebate offers when you buy a new system, which is good.

I got my MDD G4 from macmall with the free RAM and I love it, no problems with anything, they even let me submit a rebate for the free printer after the final date.

It all depends. When I bought my G4/400 a while back, I looked at all the deals. One was free memory, another was a different keyboard, and there was a third offer I forgot. I took the memory and asked MacZone not to install it since this Mac design is so simple and I'd save something like $30.

MacMall also currently offers a $50 rebate on Power Macs and PowerBooks, and I don't think the other resellers are matching that yet. At least that covers the installation fee.

Some places make you pay for the RAM up front and do a rebate, but I think MacMall just charges the install fee, which makes life easier.
