Alright, this only happens SOMETIMES, and I have no idea why.

Instead of the bright, slightly fuzzy CRT I'm used to, sometimes iMax will sort of 'flicker'. Everything is still displayed correctly, but I'm guessing this would be a video/analog board problem. Why would it only happen sometimes?

instead of it only being an analog/video board issue, think about what you power source is like. What is the quality of power to your house, what else are you using on that circuit, not to mention all the added power requirements of the upgrades you've done to it.
If this post is in the Lounge forum, it is likely to be my own opinion, and not representative of the position of MacNN.com.

I had a rev A imac that had a similar problem. One day finally, the screen did a violent snap, crackle, pop, and was dead. At the time (this was a few years ago) I looked into the problem, and it was a documented issue with Rev A imacs. I had the machine fixed, but it has never been the same, as the screen image is awful.
