I've had my 17" iMac for about a month now, and have recently come across two problems:
1) When I wake it up from sleep or the screensaver about 75% of the time the screen will go exteremly dim (much dimmer than the "dim" state it goes into after x minutes). So dim in fact that I can barely make out icons or the dock. I end up having to shut down and start up again after this happens.
2) When I put a CD or a DVD in the SuperDrive, it whirs a bit and is spit back out without being recognized and mounted by the computer. Only the Software Restore DVD is recognized (no other CDs or DVDs). This is only recently, as I had already ripped almost all of my CD collection to iTunes and desparatly want to finish ....
I tried reinstalling OS X, but the problems are still here.
Does anybody know what causing either of these and how to fix them? Any suggestions would be helpful. Thanks.
