I have the "lowly" 15"FP 700 and want to get into some Flash and Dreamweaver stuff.
Will the limited screen resolution and single display prevent me from working productively? Anyone successfully using this machine to do some web design work?
thanks

I'm doing Dreamweaver and Photoshop on a 15" iMac 800, works fine for me. Sure, a little more real estate would be nice, but then again if I had a 17" iMac I'd want a 20" Studio Display, if I had a 20" display I'd want the 23"...

my gf works on photoshop, imageready, dreamweaver, illustrator on her 12" ibook 800mhz. It works fine. However, I have flashed her video card so it support dual monitor.

DW is no problem at all working in 1024x768 - especcially since the majority of the time, you can do without all the panels on the right (just keeping the toolbox and properties panels open)
Flash can get a bit cramped though - just depends on the size your movie is really.
Other programs... Photoshop is fine once you get your panels set up the way you like them (the pallete well up the top is very handy)
Freehand though is an utter pain in the ass - at least version 10 (can't remember how well MX respects settings...). It completely ignores the dock, so windows end up hiding behind both the dock AND palletes.... grrrr (and Freehand has massively wide palletes... about twice as wide as FH8/9 palletes were)

You can, a 17'' would be significantly better and a G4/970 with a 20" monitor would be best. Dreamweaver has lots of sidelong palettes and the two at the top. Flash has the timeline editor and other various palettes. It all gets very crowded on a 15" screen.

but how often do you have the palletes open in dreamweaver? You certainly don't need to access them anywhere as much as you do in a program like Photoshop or Freehand.

1024x768 on that sweet 15" tft is pretty decent.
I also run a 700mhz g4 imac and i use dreamweaver, and a lot of photoshop, and its enough real estate to work efficiently, in my opinion.
Files not currently in use sit very well in the dock, and are easily and quickly accessible from the dock, especially if hiding is turned on (as this gives you more real estate).
Higher resolutions obviously will increase the amount of files that can be displayed at once legibly, but its all how you use it in the end....

It is just enough but for the most part it is a huge pain in the butt. Better to get the 17'

Well, I've been using the even "lowlier" 333Mhz iMac using Dreamweaver, Flash, Freehand & Fireworks and find that
working with a resolution of 1024 X 768 gives me enough room. Sure, it can get cramped occasionally, but not enough to seriously hamper work.
That being said, I'm planning on getting a 17" baby in the summer...but not because of any real estate difficulties.
