I have had my dual 867 since Oct. and recently everyday at 2am, I hear a couple clicking sounds and a beep. It has been happening for the past few days. I am not sure if it just started or not. I did a search and couldn't find an answer. So is this normal?

Cheers,
Duo

It's your IBM hard drive I believe. Mine does it too on a pretty consistent basis. There was a thread at xlr8yourmac.com on this and everyone who was reporting it had the stock IBM hard drive in their G4s.

Yep, prime suspect the IBM drive...

I had a Dual 867 with a Deathstar as standard fit. Same clunking, clicking and beeping noises observed...

Apple line is that it is totally normal... Fair play to them, as I haven't heard of an inordinate amount of failures, I guess they are right...

Though, you keep everything backed-up anyway right?

Peace,

Marc
