I have a dual 866 that I got right after they came out last fall. I've noticed (but put up with) an ever slight buzz in the speaker. This sound persists even with headphones. It's sublte enough to overlook but lately it bugs me. You just can hear it over the fan. It really seems to be some sort of interference caused by the fan. I wanted to see if anyone else has had this issue, i'm wondering if I want to have it looked at while I am under warranty.... Thanks

Are you sure that's your hard drive and not you're UPS (assuming you have one)

Mine also makes the random cli--beep! sound about once or twice per day, usually in the evening though. It catches me off guard. WTF was that? Hmm....

It's definitely the Hard Drive. Well, one or more of them, at least.

Yes, my dual gig buzzes so much that I'm currently looking for a sound card. This was only noticable after running it through a mixing board. It was so pronounced that I tried everything to fix it to no avail, including buying new audio patch cords to see if that was the problem.

I'm looking at the Revolution 7.1 card, although I wouldn't have to purchase this if the damn buzz wasn't there.

I have been in the Home Theater business for a long time. I have heard and seen the effects of bad AC power. Its happens more than one would think. Anyway, I suggest getting a good power strip. Something with EMI & RFI filtering. Like the ones from Monster Cable or Panamax. Also have a professional check the AC outlet. Its also a common source of problems.

One last suggestion I have is that cable tv can leak electricity into all equipment that are wired together if its not grounded properly by the cable company. Example: Cable TV it connected to the TV. The TV is connected to the AV Receiver. Any thing connected to the AV Receiver (like a computer) is also effected.

As for that “click-beep” sound, I too have noticed it.

Hope this helps
