I have my brand new 17" iMac.
Unfortunatelly all the time I get Kernel Panics.
I run the Hardware test and when it's checking Storage I'm thrown to Open Firmware with a legend saying "Memory Exception"
After runing Hardware Test several time, now 128MB are gone and my iMac only recognize 512MB.
I guess it's something related to memory.
Any thoughts?
Thanks
N
Sounds like something's wrong with your RAM. If that iMac is new then bring it back and have it fixed for ya.

nacho,
I've read a number of other posts on this message board where people have had trouble with the stock apple 128mb ram chips that came with their machine; Flaking out and giving kernel panics. It seems to be a pretty common problem.
You should maybe look into upgrading to a 256mb or above chip for that slot, instead of sticking with the 128mb already in there. The 128's just seem like they're prone to flaking out. Maybe see if apple will give you a credit for the 128mb towards a 256mb chip . . . worth a shot. I personally wouldn't stick with a 128mb chip, though . . . even if it was replaced by apple.
