hi folks..

maybe someone can help me..

I got a great old original imac from a friend that works great, the classic bondi blue imac.

however it is discolored...turning brown near the air vents in the case on top...

my friend smokes so I'm guessing it is cigarette smoke that accumulated over the years.

the wires to the keyboard and to the mouse are also turning brown.

Any ideas on how to clean this or is it just the plastic itself aging?

windex does nothing, but was wondering if anyone had any pointers as I'd really like to brighten this cute baby back up!

I used All-Purpose Fantastik once to clean an old Mac 512K that was given to me. It worked great:

Yeah, cigarette tar is a bitch to get off. I'd suggest Goo Gone (buy a big bottle at the grocery store, where it'll cost the same as a little bottle from home depot).

409 also works, but Goo Gone is designed to melt gooey stuff, and it smells citrusy.

I guess its better on my computer than on my lungs!

Thanks for the post..will give that a try!

I've also heard that RUBBING ALCHOHOL will work on nicotine stains so will try that too.
